Trespass on railway land, or railway vandalism can cause imminent danger, and needs to be urgently reported to British Transport Police on 0800 40 50. (or by dialling 999). See Network Rail
Rubbish on Railway Land can be reported by phoning 08457 11 41 41. There seems to be a 2 week backlog (Oct 2008), but if you give them your phone number, an engineer may ring you back for details. (However, this does not include the fridges on Butterthwaite lane, since they say that these are not on Railway land).
It also does not include spare lines or other railway scrap, since they say this is subject to a different reclamation program).
